The commonly used LED display screens, according to industry standards, are mainly divided into DIP LED display screens and SMD LED display screens. And LED display screens are composed of one LED module after another.
Whether it is DIP led or surface mount, they are all spliced into a surface to display the playback content. Structurally speaking, each LED module is composed of four parts: the light surface, the PCB circuit board, the IC surface, and the bottom shell mask.
So, what exactly are the differences between DIP LED displays and SMD LED displays? The author will make comparisons from the following three aspects.
1.Raw materials
The first difference lies in the LED beads. The LED beads used in DIP LED displays are mainly irregular long oval-shaped beads, with main models including f3/f5/346, etc. Their packaging process is mature, they have good waterproof performance, and the light-emitting surface is a full light-emitting surface.
LED chips are mainly cubic or rectangular in shape. The packaging process involves filling the chip into a metal bracket and then curing the encapsulant. There are various types of specifications such as 3535, 3528, 2835, 2727 (2525), 2121, 1921, 1515, 1010, etc. The packaging technology is already mature, and the light-emitting surface is single-sided.
The second difference lies in the PCB circuit boards. The PCB circuit boards used in surface mount LED displays have pad surfaces for soldering the pins of SMD LED beads. In contrast, the PCB circuit boards used in through-hole LED modules have empty spaces at the relevant pad positions to allow the insertion and soldering of DIP LED beads.
The 5v power socket used in some DIP LED modules is different from that of surface mount modules. It is also through-hole rather than surface mount.
2.From a manufacturing perspective, the production process of surface-mounted LED display modules is somewhat simpler.
3.Application environment
The DIP LED limit value range is up to P6. Due to its excellent waterproof performance, it is mainly used in outdoor products.The SMD LED lamp beads, due to their regular structure and the adjustable metal supports, come in various types and can be easily selected for indoor and outdoor use.
4.Performance
The DIP light-emitting beads are long and circular in shape. The surface of the display screen is already uneven, and they emit light in multiple directions. Therefore, from an appearance perspective, the SMD of DIP LED display is not as smooth and flat as that of the SMD LED display. In terms of the lighting effect, when viewed at close range, the DIP type is not as smooth and gentle as the surface mount type in terms of picture display.the dip led of The lifespan is much longer, and it can easily reach 100,000 hours.
